JOE WELCH
LPC-MH
I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Dakota and have been providing counseling for over five years. Throughout my career, I have worked with adolescents and adults involved in the justice system and in outpatient settings.
My training background includes Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I value continuing my education and growing as a clinician.
My approach to psychotherapy involves using clinically researched methods to help people make meaningful changes in their lives and reduce difficult emotions by addressing their thoughts and behaviors. I am committed to providing clients with a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment while developing a collaborative relationship to work on their concerns as a team.
My main areas of focus are helping adults with anxiety, depression, anger, life adjustments, grief, self-esteem, and other emotional and behavioral concerns. I help clients practice mindfulness, increase self-compassion, enhance emotion regulation, clarify their values, and manage their thoughts and behaviors so they have the skills to live happy, healthy, and meaningful lives.
Through our work together, we can find effective methods to reduce your suffering, reach your goals, and help you build a life that is fulfilling and valuable.
