ROBYN NIEWENHUIS
CSW-PIP
I was born and raised in a small town in South Dakota. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from South Dakota State University and my Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Dakota. I am a certified social worker licensed to engage in private independent practice. My background is in child and adolescent forensic interviewing and medical social work advocacy and patient care. A few of the frameworks I utilize include Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Come as you are and let’s work together to bring about restoration, life balance and hope.
The therapeutic relationship is a cornerstone of my practice. Key elements of that are acceptance, compassion and empathy. I strive to work collaboratively with individuals. Everyone has strengths and I will work in assisting clients to build upon those strengths by teaching new skills and interventions that can improve one’s quality of life. Some of my areas of interest include trauma, depression, anxiety, immigrant populations, adoption, military families, stress related to life changes and more.
These can be challenging times in which we live, it would be an honor to be a part of your journey.
