JENNIFER ALBRECHT
LPC-MH, LAC
I have lived in Sioux Falls since 2006. My background is in counseling and art therapy. I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology at South Dakota State University. With my bachelor’s degree, I spent some time in St. Louis doing social work before completing my master’s degree in 2006. I graduated with my Masters of Art in Art Therapy and Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM. I have been working as a therapist since moving back to SD.
I am dually licensed as a mental health counselor and as an addiction counselor. With my background and training, I am also able to incorporate art into my practice as a clinician. I have experience working with adults and adolescents in both individual and group therapy in outpatient and inpatient settings. Over the last 4 years, I have gained experience in offering services via Telehealth. I enjoy this platform but am also looking forward to meeting with people in person again.
Some of the issues I work with are addiction, depression, anxiety, women’s health, bipolar, relationships, healthy communication, life transitions, chronic physical health concerns, stage of life change, autism spectrum disorders, LGBTQ+ support, and others. Life offers ample opportunity to learn from adversity and other life experiences. My goal is to help guide you through accepting loss or change while transforming into a stronger overall person. To personalize and individualize care, I work from an eclectic, humanistic approach, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and other techniques while offering a safe, nonjudgmental healing space.
